Dependable and convenient tutoring solutions for an affordable price.
What Arch City Tutors does:
- Recruit – Arch City Tutors recruits currently employed and recently retired educators that are dedicated to furthering our students’ educational needs outside of normal school hours. While the Missouri Learning Standards define the knowledge and skills students need in each grade level, local districts and schools make their own decisions about curriculum, instructional strategies, materials and textbooks. Because the curriculum, instructional strategies, materials and textbooks may vary from district to district, or school to school, Arch City Tutors is committed to developing a network of tutors that will represent each district and/or school, who will be familiar with your child’s curriculum.
- Screen – Before one of our educators can offer their services to our students, we review their application, confirm their job history, and ensure they pass our strict background check. Once a tutor has Arch City Tutors’ stamp of approval, their profile becomes active, and they are ready to be contacted by our students!
- Connect – After a tutor becomes an approved Arch City Tutor, and their tutoring profile is activated, our students are able to contact the tutor and schedule a tutoring session. Our tutor profiles contain the tutor’s (a) name, (b) a recent photograph, (c) past employment history, (d) current employment history, (e) tutoring subject areas, (f) a few of their hobbies, and (g) how they prefer to complete their tutoring sessions (i.e., in person or virtual). We believe access to this information allows our students to choose a tutor who is compatible with their needs, and in the event they are meeting in person, the students will know who to look for!
What our students do:
- Register – Registration is simple and only takes a few minutes to complete. If a student is 17 years or younger, their parent or guardian creates a profile for them. If a parent or guardian has more than one child, a family profile can be created, which will contain a profile for each student. If a student is 18 years or older, they are able to create their own profile, however, a parent or guardian can still create a profile on their behalf. Our student profiles contain the student’s (a) first name and last initial, (b) current grade, (c) current school, (d) what they are hoping to receive from their tutoring sessions (i.e., what areas they need extra help in), and (e) any other information the student, or their parent or guardian, believes the tutor should be aware of. Each student profile is required to have a credit card on file and will be charged a nonrefundable fee of $9.99 on the 1st of every month.
- Book – Once a student profile is created, the student, or their parent or guardian, can view the available tutors and schedule a tutoring session with a tutor of their choosing. For each tutoring session booked, a scheduling fee is charged depending on the type of tutoring session. For more information on the different types of tutoring sessions, please visit the Immediate Tutoring and/or Scheduled Tutoring .
- Confirmation – After a student has booked a tutoring session, they will receive a confirmation email confirming the tutor, date, time and location of the tutoring session. In the event they opted to complete their tutoring sessions remotely, they will also be provided with a hyperlink to the tutoring session.
- Reminder – Depending on how far in advance a student schedules a tutoring session, they will receive an email reminding them of their session.
- Payment – Upon completion of the tutoring session, our tutors are paid directly by the students, at the tutors agreed upon rate. Depending on how the tutoring session is completed (i.e., in person or remotely), our students usually pay via cash, check, Venmo or PayPal. Please note that tips are not required, and our tutor’s rates—which are determined by our tutors—reflect the total amount they expect to be paid.
- Repeat – Repeat as often as needed, with 24/7 access to your account. Students can request time changes, cancel appointments, and reach out to their tutor directly—all from your ArchCityTutors.com dashboard.
